Museum curators

People working at curator positions are charged with acquiring, scrutinizing, and providing access to artifacts, specimens, and other items of significant cultural value. Though requirements for curator positions may differ depending on the type of musuem one is applying to, people who have the relevant academic background and experience can apply for curator positions.

Museum conservators

Museum conservators on the other hand focus on preserving the artifacts, specimens, and other items showcased in the museum. They provide advice and status updates to the museum curator so that necessary actions and steps may be taken. People applying for conservatorship positions are tasked also with formulating museum policies that highlight the protection and preservation of artifacts and other items in the museum. A background in anthropology and material sciences is needed for this position.

Exhibit designers

Working closely with museum conservators, people employed as exhibit designers pattern and create presentable tableaus where artifacts and other museum items are showcased. Aside from artistically orchestrating the placement, ample consideration to the fragility and state of the artifacts are needed to effectively display these items to the public.

Heritage interpreters

Otherwise known as museum guides, people employed as heritage interpreters guide visitors and provide lectures and information about the items on display. Heritage interpreters should have ample knowledge of the items in the museum and should be able to convey these information to others effectively.
